A WARNING has been issued to residents following a spate of bin fires across Farnworth.
Police have called for members of the public to be vigilant after an increase in the number of wheelie bin fires in the area.
Greater Manchester Police's Bolton South team urged people to store their wheelie bins away, especially at night, to avoid them becoming a target for arsonists.
In further advice, they have asked people to avoid storing their bins close to their properties, such as near to windows or doors, because any fire in the bin could easily spread.
They tweeted about the fires this morning: "Please be aware that there has been an increase of bin fires in the Farnworth area.
"Please do not leave your bin in the back streets or against your property if possible.
"If you see anything suspicious or are the victim of a crime please report it by calling 101 or alternatively please use our online live chat.
