BOLTON Wanderers youngsters brought some early Easter egg-citement to some poorly children.

Scholars Jordan Boon, Callum James and Ted Moulden made a visit to the children’s ward at Royal Bolton Hospital on Tuesday afternoon.

With them, they brought 60 Easter eggs, donated by Bolton Wanderers first team and academy players.

The players went around the ward handing out the eggs and talking with the children in an aim to boost their spirits.

18-year-old defender Jordan Boon said: “We’ve heard some sad sad stories today of what’s happened to these kids.

“It’s good coming in here though because we can give them an Easter egg, put a smile on their face, and it opens you up to different situations, so you get a better understanding of what’s going on in the community.

“It also gets us ready for when we’re older and professional footballers and doing more of these sorts of appearances.”

The visit was arranged by Lee Wood, the head of education at Bolton Wanderers.

He said: “They have to make a public appearance in the community for their NVQ but more importantly it’s for their personal and professional development.

“It takes them out of their comfort zone and develops them as a person.

“You can’t really understand what families must be going through being in hopsital with their children and if something as little as an egg or the chance to meet a future first team player puts a smile on their face, then that can only be a positive experience.”
