A CHURCH has called on singers to spend an afternoon rehearsing “one of the most exciting works in musical history” before performing the piece in front of an audience.
Boltonians have been asked to join Bury Parish Church this Good Friday in singing Requiem, composed by Gabriel Fauré. A rehearsal will be held between 3.30pm and 6.30pm prior to the concert at 7.30pm.
Chris Hughes, on behalf of Bury Parish Church, said: “Our ‘Come and Sing’ event is an exciting part of our Easter celebrations.
“This is a brilliant opportunity for singers of all ages to spend a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon learning and exploring one of the most exciting works in the repertoire.
“We shall end with an evening performance of the Requiem, to which all family and friends are invited.”
Singers are asked to wear all black attire. Music will be available to borrow.
The price is £7 for singers, including light refreshments. Tickets for the concert are £5. To get involved, call 0161 763 7336.
