ACTORS could get their big break at an award-winning theatre.

The Octagon is looking for new actors, who are fresh from an accredited drama school or have at least one professional production credit ­— and live with 25 miles of Bolton.

Artistic Director Lotte Wakeham said: "Since coming to Bolton I have been overwhelmed by the sense of community and the strong spirit of this town.

"I am passionate about developing local talent and these auditions are a chance for me to see North West actors which will aid me in casting Octagon productions in the future.

"I am excited to continue the Octagon’s reputation of making high quality theatre right here in Bolton."

General auditions takes place on May 27 and May 29.

And the auditions are not designed with a particular production or role in mind, but they are an opportunity for local actors to meet the Octagon team in order to be considered for future opportunities.

The theatre is looking seek to cast actors from all cultural groups and of all ethnicities as well as providing opportunities for actors with disabilities or impairments to be cast in productions.

Actors selected will have a chance to act in the newly transformed theatre, which is set to open next year.

The theatre is undergoing its biggest revamp since it opened just over 50 years.

The new building is designed to improve the audience and actor experience as well as make it accessible for all groups.

The new theatre is set to open early 2020.

The £10 million Octagon Reimagined project is the first part of the town's masterplan.

Applications will open on Tuesday and will close on, April 30.
