A PRIMARY school is celebrating after its latest inspection.

Ofsted ranked St Gabriel's Catholic Primary School in Higher Folds as "good" in a short inspection.

It "continues to move forwards strongly" and is "determined to give every pupil the best possible start in life".

The report of the Queensway school said: “Pupils’ attainment overall is improving, and progress measures in key stage 2 in 2018 were among the best in the country.

"Pupils are polite and friendly. Their behaviour in class and around the school is consistently good, and this creates a calm and purposeful environment for learning.

"The school’s inclusive Christian ethos underpins all aspects of school life."

Ofsted visited the school on February 5 and published the report on March 12.

Head teacher Mrs Cathie Williams said “I am delighted with the outcome of our recent inspection which reflects the hard work and dedication of our staff to provide the very best education and pastoral support to all our children.

"The report highlights the many strengths within our school, including our progress measures, which were among the top three per cent of all schools nationally in 2018.

It is a celebration for everyone connected with our school community, our wonderful children, staff, parents and governors.”
