HATS-off to these creative youngsters who marked Easter in the traditional way.

Youngsters at Bolton School nursery got crafty to make their very own Easter bonnets

And they wore their hats as they turned up to nursery yesterday.

The hats were decorated with everything from beautifully created nests with chicks and colourful eggs, bunny rabbits, sheep and flowers.

A spokesman for Bolton School said: "The children enjoyed parading around the Nursery Garden while wearing their Easter Bonnets and had fun seeing one another’s creations.

"Two children from each room were awarded prizes for their impressive Easter Bonnets, and all of the children received a special Easter treat before leaving nursery to enjoy the long weekend."

She added: "Just before the Easter holidays, children in the Nursery Class also made bonnets, and at Beech House Infant School there was an Eco Easter Bonnet competition with children making bonnets from recycled paper and cardboard."

Easster Bonnets represents the tail-end of a tradition of wearing new clothes at Easter,in harmony with the renewal of the year and the promise of spiritual renewal.
