AHEAD of Pesach celebrations this evening the fire service is urging members of the Jewish community to ensure they stay safe over the holiday period.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service has provided a list of safety tips for the celebration.
Firefighters say gas flames should not be hindered, otherwise this can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning becoming a threat.
Avoid using electrical appliances like hot plates or water heaters if there is any sign of damage to the cable.
Make sure that candles are in sturdy holders away from flammable materials and never leave them unattended. Make sure they are out of reach of children.
Homes should also have working smoke alarms on every level.
Area manager Ben Levy said: "Pesach is a joyful time for the Jewish community, a time for celebration and family gatherings, but it’s vital that everyone stays safe and avoids a costly incident taking place.
“Following some simple and easy-to-follow safety advice can help to ensure that celebrations get well underway safely this year.
“We wish our Jewish community ‘Chag Sameach’, a safe and happy Pesach.”
