A NEW children’s care home has been praised by watchdog inspectors.

The Care Quality Commission rated Sonning Drive good at its first inspection since registering with them in May 2018.

Sonning Drive near Hulton Lane, cares for up to two children at a time with complex needs and mental ill health.

A parent inspectors spoke to said: “For the first time I don’t worry, I know they are safe.”

Inspectors praised the round-the-clock care the home was providing to children, including having two staff on night shifts.

A social worker told inspectors Sonning Drive was the "only place in the country" able to meet one childs needs.

They said: "There is consistent staffing, the young person engages well, everyone is flexible. They have stability here."

Inspectors were also pleased to see Sonning Drive had good links with Royal Bolton Hospital in the event a child needed medical attention and that all the staff had good training.

The staff also worked hard to ensure the children were involved in their own care.
