A NEW hyper-local party has sprung up in Bolton.
An application for a political party under the name of ‘Bolton People First’ has been submitted to the Electoral Commission
The Bolton News understands that it has come from an individual who has run as an independent candidate in a previous council elections.
New hyper-local parties have been popping up all over the borough in the last two years.
Farnworth and Kearsley First formed only months before taking their first council seat last year.
The group took a further two seats in May 2018 and inspired other parties to follow their lead.
In February, Horwich and Blackrod First Independents were formally recognised as a party by the Electoral Commission.
This followed months of confusion due to a mystery group claiming their name.
The approval allowed the new party to field two candidates under that name in this year’s council elections.
Westhoughton First Independents was also created by town councillor Jack Speight this year.
