LOOKING for something to do this week? From musical legends to mountain biking madness, there is something for everyone.

Here is our guide to five of the best things to do in the town this week:

Leo Sayer at Albert Halls 

On Tuesday, Grammy award winning, international chart-topping legend Leo Sayer will play a show in Bolton’s stunning entertainment venue.

He has been in the music industry for over four decades, selling 80 million albums and is known all over the world.

He will be playing both new and old songs including  'Moonlighting', 'One Man Band', and 'I Can’t Stop Loving You'.

It promises to be a fun and energetic night full of hits.

Magic and Sparkle Day at Bolton Central Library and Museum

Celebrate the International Day against Homophobia on Saturday.

From 11am to 4pm there will be a range of events to take part in, from singing in a choir to getting creative by making colourful badges and placards. There will be a Drag King telling stories and lots of craft activities.  

Bolton Museum is also currently hosting “Desire, love, identity” - an exhibition showcasing the British Museum’s collection of LGBTQ artefacts over the course of history. 

In addition, this week there will be a series of Museum Monologues where live performers will bring the stories of Bolton’s LGBTQ pioneers to life. Details can be found on the Bolton Museum website. 

Midweek Mountain Bike Madness at Leverhulme Park 

Wednesday will see round one of a series of five mountain bike races where bikers of all levels and ages can enjoy a friendly and exciting competition.  

You can ride at your own pace whether that’s speeding as fast as you can or pedalling more leisurely. There are four categories for racers, enthusiasts, youths, and children. 

Prizes will be available as well as great photo opportunities and a fun, encouraging atmosphere. 

Tickets are £12 advance and £15 on the day for adults, and £6 advance and £10 on the day for youths.  

Ladies in Lavender at the Bolton Little Theatre

Running until Saturday, Ladies in Lavender is a play set in Cornwall in 1936 about two spinster sisters and how their lives change when they invite a young Polish violinist into their home.

They find the young man half-drowned on the beach but are not prepared for the suspicions that his arrival will bring from their small village.

You might know of the play from the 2004 film starring Judi Dench and Maggie Smith. 

Performances start at 7.30pm and tickets can be bought through the Bolton Little Theatre box office for £10. 

Community Fun Day at St Paul’s Church and Community Centre 

On Saturday, between 10.30am and 2pm the church will host a community fun day with something for all ages to enjoy.

There will be a toddler area and a bouncy castle for the kids as well as a fire engine and carnival games.

Stalls will sell handmade crafts and gifts and a cafe will serve drinks and snacks as well as Belgian waffles. 

Admission to the event is free, with proceeds from the stalls and games going towards putting on other community events as well as supporting local activity groups.
