FIREFIGHTERS tackled a fire at Bedford High School in Leigh yesterday afternoon, Monday.

Five fire engines were called to the Manchester Road school at around 2.20pm after a blaze broke out in the roof space of a staff office building.

A command unit and a support fire engine were sent too.

The school was evacuated and everyone was accounted for.

No-one was reported to have been injured in the incident.

Crews were in attendance for around three hours and 45 minutes.
A fire investigation officer also went to the scene but the cause of fire has not been revealed.
