AN OVERTURNED lorry brought Tonge Moor Road to a standstill this afternoon.
The heavy good vehicle overturned in the busy main road close to Matalan at around 12.30pm.
The emergency services responded to the incident and one man was taken to Royal Bolton Hospital by paramedics from North West Ambulance Service.
It is not known how severe any injuries were.
Two men had to be freed from the lorry by firefighters said a spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.
Crews from Bolton North, Farnworth and Ashton Stations attended the scene after being called at 12.39pm.
Once the men were free of the wreck the fire service made the area safe and requested engineers from Bolton Council come and inspect the bridge near where Tonge Moor Road meets Folds Road over the River Tonge.
The council sent an engineer and a road engineer to the scene to inspect the bridge to check for structural damage.
It is not known what led to the crash.
