THE weather's getting better and families are looking for something to do as summer holidays close in.
To help you out, we've created a list of five things in and around Bolton to keep you entertained:
Magic at the museum
Get involved in celebrating International Day Against Homophobia at Bolton's own ground-breaking exhibition.
On Saturday, Bolton Museum will play host to a Magic and Sparkles Day which will give families the chance to engage with the Desire, Love, Identity exhibit, created in partnership with the British Museum.
From 11am until 4pm, attendees will be able to try out a choir workshop, make creative badges and placards, hear some exciting stories and try out some inventive arts and craft activities.
This event is free.
A relaxing return to nature
Take some time for yourself and enjoy the picturesque countryside of Rivington on the Spring Mindfulness Walk.
The event, organised by CounsellingKind begins at Rivington Tea Rooms on Sunday and combines mindfulness exercises with a healthy dose of fresh air and nature.
It begins at 10am. Tickets cost £10 each. Call 07546 462583 or emailL rebecca@counsellingkind.co.uk.
The best in the world do battle
The World's best fighters will descend on Manchester this week as the World Taekwondo Championships come to town.
The five-day event is split into a number of sessions but it will be held at the Manchester Arena from Wednesday morning until Sunday evening.
Tickets cost between £11 and £15 and be purchased by visiting www.manchester-arena.com/events.
Support a local artist
HARWOOD artist David Sharples will find himself in the frame throughout the month.
Mr Sharples’ work will be on show for the whole of May at Harwood Library, in Hough Folds Way. All of the work on display will be for sale.
New stories to be told
Delve into some new stories at a second-hand, vintage and antiquarian book fair in a historic hall.
The Barlow Institute, Edgworth, will host a specialist book fair on Sunday as dealers from across the country visit the hall to sell their wares to literature lovers.
The event takes place between 9am and 4pm, with free entry all day and the Reading Room open for lunch.
