A VAN driver who claimed he was insured on his friend's policy had his vehicle seized by police.
The man was stopped by traffic officers around noon today on Garstang Avenue, Breightmet, close to the junction with Bury Road.
After being questioned by the officers, the man claimed he was insured through a trade insurance policy on the vehicle in the name of his friend.
The vehicle was also found to have a defective tyre which had been overly inflated and had insufficient tread.
Following the incident, police seized the van, a white Ford Transit Connect.
Owners of vehicles seized by the police have to pay a 'release fee' of up to £200.
