POLICE are appealing for information after a teenage girl was sexually assaulted.

A girl in her mid-teens was walking through Halliwell on Tuesday April 30 when she was sexually assaulted by a man, police have reported.

At around 9pm, the girl was halfway through a ginnel to the rear of Brocksby Chase, connecting Prince Street to Nottingham Drive when she was approached by a man who assaulted her.

The man is described as Asian, in his early 30s, of big build, around 5ft 9ins tall. The offender is said to have a black, bushy beard, and was wearing a khaki green jacket with a hood.

Police have started an investigation and are asking anyone with information to contact them, quoting incident number 2424 of 30/04/19.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "Officers are investigating after a sexual assault in Bolton.

"At around 9pm on Tuesday 30 April 2019 a girl aged in her mid-teens was walking through a ginnel that runs to the rear of Brocksby Chase, connecting Prince Street to Nottingham Drive in Halliwell.

"Halfway along the ginnel, a man approached the girl and sexually assaulted her.

"She away to safety before police were called.

"The girl was uninjured.

"The offender is described as an Asian man, in his early 30s, of big build, around 5ft 9ins tall with a black, bushy beard and was wearing a khaki green jacket with a hood.

"Anyone with any information about the assault should contact police on 0161 856 5757 quoting incident number 2424 of 30/04/19.
