A SOCIAL media group determined to find justice for a schoolgirl found strangled to death more than 34 years ago is growing stronger.

Lisa Hession died aged 14 after being strangled on Saturday, December 8, 1984, a short distance from her home on Bonnywell Road in Leigh at around 10.30pm.

Her body was discovered shortly before midnight by a dog walker on Rugby Road.

A murder investigation followed but her killer has never been found.

Following the death of Lisa's mum Christine in July 2016, a Facebook group was launched by Andrea Ashcroft Aldred and Ryan Daly in a bid for residents to share information about the crime.

The group, Let’s get justice for Lisa Jane Hession, now has more than 1,000 members.

Andrea, 47, said: "I grew up with Lisa, she was a friend of mine and my older sister.

"She was a beautiful and popular lovely girl.

"This haunts me daily and I know someone out there knows who did this, and I hope and pray they come forward and speak up after all this time."

Greater Manchester Police's (GMP) Cold Case Review Unit remains committed to finding Lisa's killer and a £50,000 reward is on offer for anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.

Ryan, 28, said: "Me and Andrea both thought it was wrong how Lisa’s mum Christine died without ever seeing her daughter's killer brought to justice.

"So we both decided to start the campaign and raise awareness about the case.

It is important to Andrea as Lisa was one of her childhood friends.

"I wasn’t born when this tragedy happened, but I am well aware of the case as I’m originally from the estate where it happened.

"Hopefully us doing this will help this cold case finally be solved, and make sure the people of Leigh don’t forget this case."

If you have any information call GMP's Cold Case Review Unit on 0161 856 5978 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
