POLICE have launched a murder investigation after a 20-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run.

Luke Fleming was taken to hospital after the crash, in Cleggs Lane, Little Hulton, on Saturday, May 11, but died on Friday as a result of his injuries.

Officers were called to the road at 9pm after receiving reports that a blue Fiat Sedici had collided with two men on a black motorcycle.

A 23-year-old man, who was also on the motorbike, was later found and treated for minor injuries.

The driver and occupants of the Fiat ran away from the scene.

A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder but has since been bailed pending further enquiries.

Chief Inspector Stuart Wilkinson from GMP’s Major Incident Team said:“My thoughts are with Luke’s family at this devastating time, I would like to reassure them that we are doing all that we can to find them the answers they deserve.

“Our investigation has now become a murder enquiry and we are currently continuing to trawl CCTV to piece together the moments leading up to the collision.

“We would like to hear from anyone who has any information which could help us with our enquiries.”
