NEW flights from Southend Airport to Guernsey have officially launched today.
The new route is being operated by Blue Island.
The first aircraft touched down earlier today and was met with the traditional water canon salute.
Rob Veron, Blue Islands CEO, said “As a true Channel Islands airline, Blue Islands is proud to be able to invest in providing an exciting year-round, lowest-cost and convenient link from London Southend Airport to Guernsey.
“We look forward to welcoming visitors from across the airport’s catchment to discover our beautiful island.”
All passengers waiting in the departure lounge were gifted bags of chocolate fudge from Guernsey Gourmet Foods to celebrate the new route.
Glyn Jones, CEO of Stobart Aviation, owners of Southend Airport, said: “We are delighted Blue Islands has chosen London Southend to provide a new route to Guernsey from our fast-growing airport – our second new airline to arrive in May alone.”
Fares start at just £29.99 one way.
