A NEW date has been set for a pre inquest review into the death of a former soldier, following an assault.
Father-of-three Michael Peers, 37, died on July 22, 2018 after an assault inside a block of flats, in Brownlow Way.
Mr Peers’ family described him as a “huge character” who was “liked by all”.
Issuing a statement after his death, they said: “Michael was a big part of our family and was many different things to different people. To his mum, he was the one who shared the belly laughs.
“To his sisters, he was a clown and a torment and to his younger brothers he was the protector. He also had a fantastic relationship with Suzy. To his three children he was simply their world.
A pre-inquest review hearing was due to be held at Bolton Coroner’s Court yesterday but it has now been relisted for Monday, July 15.
Assistant coroner for Greater Manchester West, Rachel Syed said that interested persons such as Mr Peers’ family need to see certain documents before the inquest can take place.
She added that the family “should be at the very heart of these proceedings”.
Miss Syed said: “Before I consider anything, I need to offer disclosure.
“I direct that all disclosure is circulated to all interested persons.”
