Oldham Athletic have secured the futures of two players.

Loanee Alex Iacovitti has joined the club permanently while Gevaro Nepomuceno has signed a one-year contract extension.

Defender Iacovitti initially arrived on loan from Nottingham Forest in January and played the final nine games of the season, scoring the opening goal at Colchester United in April.

He has now signed a two-year deal with the option of a further year having come to the end of his contract at the City Ground.

The 21-year-old said: “I really enjoyed my time here on loan and got a lot of game time towards the end of the season, so it only felt right to come back once I knew the club wanted me.

“I felt like I had a good connection with the fans and I can’t wait to get back playing and showing what I can do."

The Oldham Times:

Winger Nepomuceno joined the club in September 2017 and was a key man last season, making 48 appearances in all competitions, scoring six League Two goals and chipping in with 10 assists.

“Playing for this club I’ve had some special memories and I’m looking forward to next season now,” said the 26-year-old, now tied to Latics until the summer of 2020.

“I’m settled here and I have a good relationship with the fans so it was an easy decision to extend my stay."

Nepomuceno and goalkeeper Zeus De la Paz have been named in the provisional Curacao squad for the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

They are in Group C and face El Salvador on June 18 in Jamaica, Honduras on June 22 in Houston and Jamaica on June 26 in Los Angeles.

The final squad for the national team will be announced at the start of June.
