A DEFIBRILLATOR has been installed outside the Salvation Army church in Daubhill.

The ‘heart restarter’ has been fitted on the side of the building, in Aldred Street.

The equipment was installed as part of the Sizzling and Carling Community Action campaign - run by Sizzling Pubs and alcohol company Carling.

A spokesman for the campaign said: “We were very excited to get the defibrillator installed at Bolton South Salvation Army Community Church.

“Public access to community defibrillators can potentially save lives, and can be used by anyone.”

Sizzling and Carling Community Action also announced that there will be an awareness raising day in Bolton soon.

As well as Carling and Sizzling Pubs, money for the defibrillator was also raised by locals at the Three Pigeons pub, in Wigan Road.

The defibrillator was installed by CW Electrical and the North West Ambulance Service community resuscitation team also provided support in getting and delivering the equipment.

Hulton ward councillor Derek Bullock praised the community spirit involved in getting the defibrillator installed.

He said: “I fully approve of it and it’s good to get another one, as there one already up at Over Hulton Conservative club.

“It may seem trivial but it’s a good thing because it could save quite a lot of lives.

“All credit to Three Pigeons as well for fundraising.”

Anybody wishing to use the defibrillator just needs to ring 999 to get an access code to get inside the locked wall cabinet where it is kept.
