STAFF at a law firm have raised hundreds of pounds for charity — by not saying a word.

In order to boost the Bolton Lads and Girls Club's Yellow and Blue Day appeal, Mawdsley Street based solicitors AFG LAW closed their office early and held a silent auction, organised by legal executive Tracy Haslam, which raised £1,191.14.

AFG LAW managing director, Anita Boardman, said: “The silent auction was a huge success. Tracy worked really hard to get everyone involved from securing auction lots to making the day fun. As a firm, we know how important it is to give something back and to help to make our communities better, however we can.

"Events like these enable us to support Bolton Lads and Girls Club for the great work they do with the young people in our town."

Several of AFG LAW’s staff are involved in the club's mentoring scheme and the club has supported it for 17 years.

Kelly McFadden, the club's head of fundraising, said: “AFG LAW have supported us for many years giving both their time and expertise to help the Club. The Silent Auction was a great event and we appreciate all the efforts that Tracy and her team made to ensure it was a success — this year’s amount exceeded all our expectations.”
