A MAN has been left in hospital after receiving a cut to his stomach during a fight in the town centre.

The injured person - described by police as being in his 20s - was hurt at around 12.50am this morning following a brawl in Bradshawgate, close to Nelson Square.

Officers say the man's condition is "not thought to be serious" and nobody has been arrested in connection with the incident.

"Officers were called to Bradshawgate to reports of fighting around 00:48 this morning," a spokesman for GMP said.

"A man in his 20s was taken to hospital with a cut to his stomach. His condition is not thought to be serious.

"No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."

Reports on social media suggested the man was stabbed with a knife, but police say they do not yet know what caused the injuries.
