A CHARITY is celebrating the work of its army of volunteers.

The Salvation Army’s Bolton Citadel, in St George’s Road, is using National Volunteers’ Week to share a message of how important helpers are to the local community.

The group has 10 volunteers, who support the church and community centre to ensure events are regularly held.

Major Paul Westlake, leader of The Salvation Army in Bolton, said: “Our volunteers are a big part of the corps here in Bolton and we’re so thankful to all of them for the support they help us provide to the local community.

“We believe that everybody has something that they can give and we try and get as much out of our volunteers as possible and volunteering can also be a stepping stone for getting people back into work.

“We couldn’t support the local community as we do without the hard work and dedication that all our volunteers provide on a daily basis.”
