PLANS to refurbish a church and expand a children's nursery have been revealed.
Westhoughton United Reformed Church in Park Road wants to create additional space for the nursery and provide new office space.
The building is currently under-used and expensive to run and maintain, according to the planning application.
This is largely due to a "dwindling" church congregation. However, the children's nursery is over-subscribed but cannot expand due to a lack of suitable space within the building.
If the proposals are given the go ahead, the church will continue to use the main worship space but the office space would be let to generate an income.
