A NEW director has been appointed to oversee ambulance operations in the North West.

Yesterday, management bodies NHS England and NHS Improvement confirmed Dr David Hanley as non-executive director of the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust (NWAS).

Dr Hanley is currently a lecturer in strategic management at the University of Central Lancashire. He previously spent 25 years working in Adult Social Care with his last role being director of operations for Trafford Council.

He also spent five years chairing the Bury Adult Safeguarding Adults Board, and has been a chair of governors at his local primary school before currently acting as a trustee of the Christadelphian Care Homes.

Chairman for NWAS, Peter White said: “We’re delighted to welcome David to the service and are confident that he will be a positive addition to the trust Board.

“He has a wealth of experience within social care and health services which will be invaluable to the trust.”
