WORK to improve the sound quality of the Octagon's latest production is being undertaken after issues about the acoustics were raised.

Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest — which has received good reviews — is currently showing in The Albert Halls as the Octagon Theatre undergoes a multi-million pound transformation.

Marie Irving Murphy, Head of Operations and Customer Experience at the Octagon Theatre, said: "The Albert Halls is a beautiful venue but we have found the space has been a little challenging acoustically for the fast-paced dialogue in The Importance of Being Earnest.

"We have had a few comments from audience members who have struggled to make out the dialogue particularly further back in the auditorium and we have been making some adjustments to help improve this.

"The show is a funny, stylish and very visual production and overall the comments from audiences have been really positive about the show.”

The Importance of Being Earnest runs until Saturday.
