POLICE found pornographic pictures of children on a teenager’s phone when he returned home from college.

Bolton Crown Court heard how Liam Gore was aged 17 when his Ainsworth Lane, Bolton, home was raided by officers on March 6, 2018.

Andrew Evans, prosecuting said two category C images were found on his desktop computer and, when his phone was examined, they found four category C images, six category B pictures and eight of the most extreme category A images on it. There were also three Category A videos, one of which featured a girl estimated to be eight years old.

A further 22 videos and pictures were found on a USB stick belonging to Gore.

“Screenshots found upon the phone suggested an attempt to distribute the images,” said Mr Evans.

Gore, who has no previous convictions and is now aged 19 and studying at Salford University, pleaded guilty to downloading indecent images of children.

James Preece, defending, said that Gore’s main interest at the time was viewing images of girls aged around 15 years old.

“There is no evidence of problems of any sort since the last file creation date towards the end of January 2018,” he added.

Judge Timothy Stead sentenced Gore to a community order for three years and ordered him to participate in a sex offender programme and 25 days of rehabilitation activities. He must also pay £250 towards prosecution costs.

Gore was made subject to a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years.
