UNIVERSITY of Bolton named second in UK for English and Creative Writing in Guardian league tables.

The University of Bolton has ranked second in the UK for its English and Creative Writing courses in The Guardian University League Tables 2020.

The courses achieved an overall Guardian score of 99.6, with 92.6 satisfied with teaching, 90.3 satisfied with feedback and 10 out of 10 for added value.

Durham was number one and Oxford third in the English and Creative Writing subject category.

Sam Johnson, Head of the School of Arts, said she was delighted by the news.

She said: “This has been a fabulous year for English and Creative Writing at the University of Bolton.

“We have achieved excellent outcomes across a number of national league tables in recognition of the quality of the learning and teaching provision we provide for students.

“This builds upon the record of learning and teaching excellence that the department has retained for several years as demonstrated by our exceptionally high National Student Survey scores.

“This year, lecturers have won a range of prizes and awards.

Sam added: “We have hosted a hugely successful international conference celebrating Walt Whitman and now our English and Creative Writing courses have been ranked as overall second in the UK in the Guardian University League Tables for 2020.

“It is an amazing achievement.”
