A FORMER paramedic is one of five new leaders who are due to be appointed to leadership in churches across Bolton.
On Saturday at 2.30pm, the Bishop of Manchester, the Rt Rev Dr David Walker, will ordain as priests: Adrienne Morgan, serving at Christ’s Church in Harwood, Janet O’Neill, serving on the West Bolton Team, and Ben Wilkinson, serving in the benefices of Deane and Lostock.
Later this month, Rev Walker will ordain Nicola Butterworth as deacon in the benefice of Horwich and Rivington, and Ian Hepburn as a curate at Bolton Parish Church.
Mr Hepburn, a former paramedic, said: “I enjoyed working for the NHS for 14 years, getting out and about, meeting people, and the satisfaction of helping. I remember being on a treadmill in the gym and thinking ‘I’m running in completely the wrong race here’. I couldn’t get this line out of my head: Don’t miss out on the opportunity to spend your life on God’s work.”
He will be ordained during a service at Manchester Cathedral on June 30, at 10.30am.
