THE skies across Bolton glowed pink and orange last night in what has been described as an 'intensely beautiful' display.
We asked for your pictures of the spectacular scenes, and you didn't disappoint.
Pictures captured the night skies ahead of the summer solstice and the effects of the so-called Strawberry Moon, which gets its name because June is the month that wild strawberries start to ripen.
The science behind the lunar phenomena is said to be because the low arch of the June full moon across the sky means moonlight must travel through more the Earth's atmosphere which gives it the glorious hues.
Marc France was one of the people who caught the phenomena on camera from his house on Chorley Old Road.
He said: "I have lived here for over 30 years and have never seen anything remotely like this.
"It seemed to develop for about 15 minutes and then disappeared in seconds.
"I was in the garden and it looked like the sky was ablaze.
"It was intensely beautiful."
