FIREFIGHTERS were called out to a pair of fires in Breightmet, which are thought to have been started by fly tippers.
Crews were first called to Meadow Lane, off Bury Road, at about 3am to reports that some wooden flooring had been set fire to.
The fire was put out using hose reels, but crews were again called out to a similar incident in a walkway behind St Catherine's Academy at 6.30am.
Because the fire truck was unable to access the narrow walkway, firefighters were forced to use buckets of water to put out the fire.
Peter Wilmot, crew manager at Bolton North Fire Station, said: "It was a common theme last night. It seemed to be a van going down and dumping this rubbish and someone setting fire to it."
