A 94-year-old woman was left trapped in her vehicle after two cars crashed on The Haulgh.
The incident happened at around 1pm yesterday on Bradford Street.
An off duty paramedic who was passing the scene rushed to help and rescue the woman from her car.
An Ambulance, firefighters and police then arrived and the woman was checked over at the scene for minor injuries.
Fire crews removed a damaged car and made the roadway safe.
Bradford Street was partially shut while the emergency services dealt with the incident causing delays and disruption for motorists.
Traffic was tailing back to Bridgeman Place and the sliproads for St Peter's Way before the road fully reopened at around 1.45pm.
