RESIDENTS should not be alarmed when they see smoke coming from Fernstead House in Bolton this Sunday.
For fire crews in Bolton will be carrying out a training exercise. Starting at 10.30am, eight fire engines will arrive on scene and will be using harmless cosmetic smoke as part of the exercise.
Thanks to a good relationship with caretaker Neil Harrison, firefighters regularly train at the site to develop and hone their skills.
Senior fire officers stress that there are no safety concerns with the actual building itself. Firefighters say they are keen to make residents aware that the exercise will take there so they are not alarmed.
