A PASSENGER jumped on the bonnet of a police car in an attempt to allow the driver of the vehicle to escape.

Traffic officers chased the pair in a silver Vauxhall Vectra along Castle Street, The Haulgh, at around 3am this morning (Thursday) before they suddenly stopped, with the driver attempting to flee.

The passenger quickly climbed out and onto the bonnet of the police car in an effort to stop it from moving.

However, the officers were able to get through and continued to chase the Vauxhall driver until he stopped and tried to get away on foot.

The man was eventually caught and police found that he had been disqualified from driving.

The Bolton News:

He went on to fail a roadside drugs test and police arrested him on suspicion of failing to stop, dangerous driving and driving under the influence of drugs.

Officers are also looking for the passenger of the vehicle who is wanted for obstructing a police officer.

The Vauxhall was seized and the driver taken to custody in Swinton.

Anyone with information about the passenger can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
