FREE play sessions will be available for children this summer and over half terms.

The weekly activities at Halliwell UCAN Centre include sports, arts and crafts, drama, music, games and cooking.

They will take place between 1pm and 3pm starting on Wednesday July 24 until August 21.

Further free sessions will take place on October 23, 2019 and February 19, 2020.

Children, aged four to 12, will need to be registered by a parent or guardian.

Places are limited and on a first come first served basis.

Local councillors Linda Thomas, Akthar Zaman and Cliff Morris support the sessions which is funded by the Halliwell area forum budget.

They said:’It is a priority that there are some such free play sessions for which local children can engage and have fun. This also helps, in a small way, parents who work and have childcare costs to contend with.

"Our UCAN is a popular Centre in a good location where parents feel confidant to leave their children with trained play specialists.’
