MONEY is being raised for a community defibrillator, accessible to all in the street, and a location has been decided.

Westhoughton campaigners are aiming to raise £1,500 for a defbrillator in Market Street and have selected The Bank as the spot for the equipment.

Richard Bates, one of the organisers of the fundraising, said: The community defibrillator will be sited outside of the bar on Market Street, where it will be covered by 24 hour CCTV.

"It makes sense to place the defibrillator there as on Friday and Saturday evenings, it will also be watched over by security staff on the door who are trained in first aid."

A fundraising day will be held at The Bank on July 21 from 12pm to 4pm. Tickets are £5 and money made from sales will be matched by The Bank.
