A NEW system of payment for Greater Manchester's tram system is set to come into force.
Passengers will be able to pay for their journey on the region's Metrolink using contactless cards from Monday, July 15.
There will also be a cap on what you can be charged while travelling on the trams.
People who travel all day through a number of zones will be charged the price of a one-day travelcard, which can range from £1.80 to £7, and will have to tap in and out as they travel.
Transport for Greater Manchester says its systems will automatically calculate what passengers should pay based on a day's journeys.
