A NUMBER of roads are set to be resurfaced around Bury as part of a £10 million scheme.

Ten streets across the borough will be upgraded under Bury Council's Highways Investment Strategy, with work starting yesterday and lasting until 15 September.

The resurfacing work will take place along sections of: Walmersley Road; Gigg Lane; Market Street; Wellington Road; Spring Street; George Street; Huntley Mount Road; Bell Lane; Knowsley Street; and Walshaw Road.

More details of the works, and any traffic restrictions or road closures, can be found at: www.bury.gov.uk/roadworks

Councillor Rishi Shori, leader of Bury Council, said: “We recognised that our roads needed more money spending on them, which is why we announced an extra £10 million for highways improvements last year, and another £10 million extra to follow that.

"This latest set of works will cost around £1.5 million alone, and I’m sure that residents will welcome this investment.”
