ELIGIBLE Bolton residents have been urged to sign up for their Disabled Persons Railcards by one of the town's MPs.
Sir David Crausby spoke after attending Parliamentary event on accessibility and inclusion in rail, hosted by the Rail Delivery Group, which represents train operators and Network Rail.
Last year 3,261 journeys starting from stations in the town were made using the railcard's discounted fares, up from 2,172 in 2015.
Bolton North-East Labour MP Sir David Crausby said: “Everyone in Bolton should have the opportunity to travel by train. It’s clear that a lot of work needs to be done to make services and stations more accessible but I hope that the discounts offered by the Disabled Persons Railcard will help more people to use the trains.”
The Disabled Persons Railcard, which costs £20, offers a third off adult rail fares at any time on the National Rail network for people with a disability and a companion.
