BUILDING at a controversial housing project has started and the housing developers have now revealed what they plan the homes will look like.

The first phase of plans to build 150 homes at the former Roscoe's Farm site has been given the green light says developers, Northstone.

The Bolton Road site will see a range of two, three and four-bed properties.

The first 19 homes are currently underway, with the further 131 homes subject to future planning.

Building at the Roscoe’s Farm site will continue in autumn 2019 with the completion of homes due in April 2020.

Phil Wilson, Chief Executive of Northstone said: “These are really important milestones for Northstone and we’re really excited to have planning consent and funding in place to start delivering our vision with our first homes in Bolton."

Westhoughton town councillors have been critical of the plans, voicing concerns that there is not enough infrastructure to meet the needs of new residents.
