A POPULAR Italian restaurant is closing its doors and being sold in an online auction.

Andiamo Restaurant in Lower Leigh Road, Westhoughton, was a favourite among residents of Bolton — serving up Italian treats in modern surroundings.

The dinner spot is now being sold in an online auction with a starting bid of £345,000, ending on July 23.

The restaurant housed a former pub, along with being host to a two bedroom apartment in the space above.

The property has two dining areas suitable for 80 covers, as well as a mirror bar and a fully fitted industrial kitchen.

There are also external storage units in the outdoor area attached, with parking for 20 vehicles. Transport links are being hailed as a draw for the property, with the M61 a 10-minute drive away and Manchester International Airport a 20-mile journey by road.

Jason Lee, national sales manager of SDL Auctions, described the property for those with a bit of money to spare: "The restaurant’s bright and fresh décor gives it a chic modern look which has proved popular with diners. A prominent feature of the restaurant is the ultra-modern mirrored bar, which was installed in 2015.

“Upstairs, the apartment has a glossy city hotel feel to it, with light and airy fittings, a spacious open plan living space and a sun terrace which is large enough to accommodate both a seating and a dining area and provides far-reaching views over the surrounding fields.”

He added: “Naturally, the restaurant is the perfect property to be taken over by or let to new hosts, as the industrial kitchen is fully fitted, the layout is perfectly designed for diners and the apartment above provides comfortable accommodation for the owners or staff. "
