TWO houses were shot at in the same Prestwich street overnight – and police believe they may be linked to another shooting in Radcliffe.

Officers were called to Polefield Hall Road in Prestwich to reports of gunshots being fired at two homes at about 3.30am this morning.

Giselle Yeboah and her mother Marian were asleep inside one of the homes when she heard a "really loud bang".

Moments later, the 17-year-old said she heard a vehicle drive away from the scene.

She said: "It was terrifying. I was not sure what it was or where it was coming from.

"We have no idea who did it, but we are worried that something like this will happen again."

This afternoon, bullet holes were visible in both the front door and a window of the house.

Later in the morning, at about 7.10am, police were then called to Victoria Street in Radcliffe to reports that another house had been shot at.

A woman living in the terraced home told The Bolton News that she did not realise what had happened until she woke up shortly after to find a large bullet hole in her living room window.

Pellets and broken glass were also strewn across the floor.

The woman, who asked not to be named, said: "I was in bed at the time.

"When I saw it all, I thought some kids had thrown something through the window."

Police and forensics officers descended on the street, and a cordon was in place throughout this morning.

The window of a neighbouring house was also boarded up, with residents saying a grid had been hurled through it.

The woman added: "I am feeling shaken up.

"It is usually quiet around here, you don't expect something like this to happen.

"I have no idea who did it, I don't know anyone that could possibly want to do this to my house."

Detectives say that no one was hurt in either incident, however, they are treating them as being linked and an investigation has been launched.

They are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Inspector Andy Naismith from GMP’s Bury division said: “Thankfully no one was injured in these two incidents, but both were incidents of guns being used on suburban streets, and aimed at people’s homes, places where they should feel most safe.

“We are very keen to hear from anyone who might have any information about either of these incidents, or may have any idea who was involved.

“There will be extra officers patrolling the area in the coming days, I would ask anyone with any concerns to go over and have a chat with them.

“Guns are absolutely not welcome on the streets of Greater Manchester, and we will do all that we can to find those responsible so their reckless behaviour can no longer put us all in danger.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 0161 856 8045 alternatively call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
