BLACKBURN is set to become ‘Brickburn’ for up to 10 days - when Paw Patrol’s finest roll into town.

Characters from the hit Nick Jr show will be roaming the town centre as part of a world first next month.

Toy brick-built replicas of the likes of Chase, Marshall and Skye can be found as part of a specially-created trail, devised by Blackburn BID, from August 23.

Five hundred thousand separate pieces will be pulled together by toy specialists BrickLive to form the cartooon canines and their two-legged pals.

Plans have been pulled together for 21 of them to brighten up the end of the summer holidays for youngsters and shoppers.

Catherine Price, Blackburn BID Manager, said: "The Brickburn PAW Patrol brick trail is an opportunity for Blackburn to come together and celebrate everyone’s favourite childhood bricks.

"From little ones to big kids, Brickburn will have something for all fans of these iconic building bricks."

The pups will range in size from 75cm to 120cm high, while the Paw Patrol control tower, a central feature of their adventures, will use up 65,000 bricks alone, standing at two feet tall.

A fire engine, which organisers say will be perfect for selfies, is even grander, leaving little change out of 160,000 bricks.

The promoters are also staging a series of competitions, based around the trial, which will be unveiled closer to the installation arriving.

Free workshops and interactive building activities are also planned, as well as the distribution of trail maps.

Modellers from Surrey-based BrickLive construct their characters using basic skeletons, before transporting their creations wholesale to the venue.

Earlier this year the outfit signed a five-year deal with Nickleodeon and are also working on collections for their other shows, such as Top Wing and Shimmer and Shine.

Their work has been mostly recently showcased in the north-west at Chester Zoo, where they shipped in a collection of big cats.
