BOLTON loves a good Chinese takeaway it would seem judging by the number of suggestions we received from you when we asked you to put forward your favourites.

Whether it’s a sumptuous stir fry of a cracking Cantonese, a lot of you have a regular takeaway you can rely on.

Here are five of the most popular. As with all of our five of the best ... features, this is not meant to be a definitive list and there are many more Chinese takeaways which could have been included.

Golden Harvest, Chorley New Road, Horwich

Long-established in the area, the Golden Harvest has served several generations of families. It seems you are particularly impressed by its levels of service and the consistency of dishes available. ‘It’s restaurant quality’ was one comment we received. Another fan went as far as calling it the best Chinese takeaway in Horwich with another saying ‘It’s the best by a million miles’. Seems like it’s doing something right then!

Little Lantern, Bury New Road, Bolton

Another very popular choice with you and for those living nearby the delivery service offered was a real plus.

There is a tremendous number of dishes to choose from including Japanese-style Udon dishes and Malaysian noodles and many fans of the this particular takeaway speak about ordering something different every time and not being disappointed.

The friendly service is another big plus point.

‘The best Chinese in the area by far’ was one verdict we received. ‘It’s been our go to treat for many years’ was another.

Happy House, Tonge Moor Road, Bolton

This family-run business which has served the area for more than 20 years is one of the most popular Chinese takeaways with you if the number of recommendations we received is anything to go by. The salt and pepper box appears to be a particular favourite and recommendations often make mention of the great value for money and size of the portions on offer.

U Kitchen, Bury Road, Breightmet

The extensive choice available is one of the reasons U Kitchen received a number of recommendations. Particularly popular are the the various boxes on offer.

For vegetarians U Kitchen also offers tofu variants of some of their most popular dishes. A relatively new arrival on the takeaway scene, U Kitchen is already making a name for itself. Online ordering and a delivery service is also available.

The Noodle Shed, Folds Road, Bolton

A cosy and quite chic little place where you can dine in or take out.

The levels of service received a number of complements and although some establishments may have bigger menus, the quality of dishes appears to be a real plus.

One reviewer has described The Noodle Shed as one of Bolton’s best kept secrets. Not, the family-run café is only open until 3pm.
