THE TOWN centre will become a hive of sporting activity as it is transformed for a three-day event.

Sport on the Square returns to Victoria Square next week and families will be going for gold in a range of events from wheelchair racing to trampolining.

Bolton Council's annual sporting showcase will see different activities allocated to certain days of the week.

Tuesday, July 23, will be for general sporting events, Wednesday will be for disability sports and Thursday will be for health and wellbeing events.

The sports on show are available for anyone to join with and will include running, boxing, cricket, football, rugby and cycling.

However, there will also be some less common activities on display, including zorb balling, archery and wheelchair sport boccia, which is similar to bowls.

Sport on the Square is a free event, but organisers have warned that attendees still have to register in advance and are expected to bring tickets on the day.
