BOLTON MP Yasmin Qureshi has called for more government cash to support children and their families in the first three years of a baby's life.
She intervened in a debate called by former Conservative Cabinet Minister Andrea Leadsom.
Mrs Leadsom said: "The first 1,001 days of a new baby’s life are critical in determining his or her lifelong physical and emotional wellbeing."
Bolton South East Labour MP Ms Qureshi said: "All the ideas that have been put forward to deal with this situation require proper funding: new moneys for local authorities and for different groups to be able to carry out the suggestions. Is that money being promised?"
Early years minister Nadhim Zahawi said: "I am preparing for the spending review as well as I can."
