VOLUNTEERS who work at care homes, hospitals, hospices, surgeries and in other clinical settings are invited to attend a series of courses to receive training.

The events have been organised by Bolton Hospice’s education department, and are free to staff employed at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust.

On August 20, between 1pm and 3.30pm, visitors will receive training on how to use syringe drivers.

On September 5, between 1pm and 4pm, a session will be delivered on how to manage pain and symptoms in end of life care.

Clinical staff and volunteers will be able to access a day’s training about ‘opening the spiritual gate’ — addressing the need for education in the assessment of spiritual need and care — on September 10.

Between 1pm and 4pm on September 18, visitors will be given an introduction to communication skills in palliative care, from the patient’s perspective.
