A LARGE number of train services to Manchester were cancelled this morning due to problems with overhead lines.
Authorities announced the cancellations at around 7.30am after discovering damage to the lines between Bolton and Preston.
Only a limited number of services travelling from Wigan, Southport and Clitheroe were able to reach Bolton, with trains to Manchester Airport and Manchester Victoria cancelled.
A recent update from Network Rail, the body responsible for the overhead lines, has confirmed that the issue is resolved.
However, delays are ongoing and rail replacement buses have been put in place, arriving at Bolton Station at five minutes and 35 minutes past the hour.

Northern, which runs the trains, says some journeys could be extended by up to 75 minutes by the cancellations.
All services from Blackpool North to Hazel Grove and from Blackpool North/Preston to Manchester Airport (via Chorley) were cancelled in both directions.
