A RESCUE deal for Bathstore will not save their stores in Bolton and Bury.

Administrators have announced that Homebase has secured a deal to purchase a proportion of the baths and showers chain.

But the company's premises in Manchester Road, Bolton, and on the Angouleme Retail Park in Bury are not among the 44 locations which will continue trading.

Another 86 sites across the country will also not be revived, according to professional services firm BDO, which has handled the sale to Homebase.

The Bolton store was one of the first to be shuttered, when it was confirmed Bathstore was in trouble last month, and new tenants will now have to be sought for their old site in Bury.

Ryan Grant, BDO's restructuring partner, said the Homebase deal "protected as many jobs as possible" while maximising returns for creditors.

Under the terms, 44 stores will be saved and around 154 employee posts safeguarded. Eighty-nine job losses had already been confirmed at their head office. The only three north-west stores to survive the cull are in Chester, Cheadle and Warrington.
